The 1MileNation.com Manifesto
You have waited. It is here.
The official rant-filled and tick-people-off commentary,
of the 1MileNation.com Manifesto.
---------------------
We the People, of this Republic of 1MileNation.com, hold fast to the traditions of running fast to get faster & fitter, as there is simply no other way around that training principle.
We no longer hold onto the belief that "Slow & Steady Wins the Race", when a slow person has never won a race in this history of mankind.
We shall uphold our rights to run in circles on a track of clay, dirt, rubber, or asphalt, to the best of our ability, in as little of time as we so desire.
We shall not be confined to high mileage programs that take up our free time with false hopes of speed improvement, and our bodies laden with over-use injuries as a result.
We will not subject ourselves to the useless sufferings that come from high mileage training.
We shall no longer accept the connotations that only half & full marathoners are true runners, or that sprinters are the only real athlete in the running world.
We, as Middle Distance runners, have our place in the running world, and we proudly stake that ground with our Nation's colors of blood, sweat, and tears, as we have done for years.
We shall no longer accept the attitude of "Penguins" in our running world, for they exhibit a disdain for faster workouts with their mantra, "No need for speed".
We are holding fast to our traditions of 100m, 200m, and 400m repeats on a track, as we simply would't have it any other way.
We also hold true to the principles of strength training for improved running performance, with simple concepts of maximal strength development for more maximal force production.
We don't do workouts to achieve six-pack abs. Six-pack abs may be a collective result of our training, but it is not a desired outcome.
Our desired outcomes are determined by time, not by our appearance in a mirror.
We do not train to merely look good, we look good because of our training.
We are a machine in itself that needs to be fine-tuned for maximal output, and we will accept nothing less in our individual quests.
We will not allow the impositions of many to belittle our love for pure, all-out speed that's maintained over the course of a distance many choose not to even try.
We enjoy the fact that our workouts can last for less than 20 minutes and that we will only run for only a few miles within that time.
We will not be held back on such enjoyment through the discouragement of other running experts who shout "Heresy!" our way.
We, the people of this unique & focused Nation, are taking the stance that running needs a new edge, and our focus on High Intensity Interval Training brings that new edge, by showing others how middle distance training efforts can do wonders for human performance improvement.
We declare these statements & stances with pride, as we boldly go forth in freeing up other runners and fitness enthusiasts from the traps and snares of outdated, old, and ill-fated running advice of yesteryear.
It is our mission, our destiny, to improve the world's fitness by adopting such basic principles of workout frequency, intensity, & time to the concepts of interval training at near-maximal and attainable speeds, over the distances of 1 to 2 miles.
By doing such, we eliminate wasted time, and make our time spent on fitness improvement as an investment instead of a loss.
The rules have changed.
Old rules have been abolished in our territory.
New rules have been established.
The time is now, to let runners across the world unite under one Nation of being fit, fast, and furious, for the betterment of society as a whole.
We must face this crisis of obesity and laziness head on within our society.
We believe short, brief, intense workouts done with a purpose can help eliminate such a crisis that lies upon our society.
Let 1MileNation.com stand forth as a guide & leader, in creating an army of fitter, faster individuals who run with a purpose: the purpose of attaining the highest fitness level they are capable of.
Run Free.
Run Strong.
Run Fast.
Run So As To Win!
