Back On The Track
Greetings,
Sure had a fast and crazy week that was full of just about everything. Monday was the last day that I ran, and Tuesday had me feeling under the weather, big-time. I had to coach a VB game that night too, which didn't help me any. Tried to sleep well Tuesday night, only to feel slightly less sick on Wednesday, but still feeling like garbage. Just a nasty head cold, nasal congestion, and that overall 'blah' feeling all over. Wednesday morning I got a call to come in for a job interview on Wednesday night. Thursday morning I got the offer. I then had to tell my current boss the news, before I took off for another VB game we had Thursday night. I was planning on leaving at 2, he came back around 1:30, so I did find a break to tell him the news. Friday was a whirlwind flurry of events as well. I found out late that our VB team was heading to a pep rally at our co-op'ed school since it was Homecoming this week. So, I literally had to cut the work day I had planned by an hour so I could make it there. We went to Hope for the pep rally, had a quick VB practice in Page, and then drove back to Finley, only to eat/get ready for heading down to Hope again for the FB Homecoming game. Saturday we had a JV & C squad tournament. The JV had the morning shift, the C-squad was in the afternoon. We started out the bus ride on one of the saddest notes possible, when the girls found out that a past teammate who graduated last year was killed in a car accident on early Saturday morning. A lot of the girls were shaken up by this news and it didn't make going through the tournament any easier. Both squads played the best they could and that was all I could ask for. I know what its like to lose a teammate of yours, even if its well after they graduated. My heart just pours out for them all.
So, after that kind of week filled with sickness, sadness, and some joy tossed in (my new job is working at the school, where it will work out really well with me doing my VB coaching and possibly other coaching down the road if those opportunities arise), it was time to get back on the track again.
I'm still having remnants of the cold with me, so I thought a really good run could help shake it out of me for once. I went down to the track & did the following this morning, no watch on the wrist. Just enjoying one of those 'timeless' runs I have now & then.
Jog to track
Jog 400m on the track
Jog 300m, RP 100m x 4
Jog 100m, RP 100m x 4
Walk over to city park's hill, run 1 hill sprint up that, then walk home.
Mileage wise it was roughly 2 miles total of running. 7 laps on the track and the jog to it is roughly a 1/4 mile's worth.
There was a foggy mist all around town this morning. Since our FB field & track is about the lowest spot in town, the fog was basically at 8-10 feet above the field. So I was literally running under the fog, which looked pretty cool, even with the sun out.
I'm hoping I start feeling better and can get out more in the mornings again for my runs. I have 4 games this coming week, so it may be a challenge. C-squad Monday, JV/V on Tuesday, All squads Thursday, and a V tourney on Saturday. Going to try and run Tues-Thurs-Sunday. Since the sun ain't coming up until 6:45-7am now, my early AM runs are going to have to be on the quiet streets of Finley. Sunday just might have to be my only track day.
Question for my blog readers: would you like it if I created a separate link to order my new guide, "7 Weeks to 7 Minutes", as a stand-alone guide to purchase? I've been thinking about this and would like your input, please. Right now it is a part of a total training package of guides I've made at http://rocketspeedtraining.com/. I could however make a separate purchase link for the "7 Weeks" guide. The guide alone would be at less cost compared to the cost I have for that current guide package. Please email me at Rick@ASAPWorkouts.com if you'd like that idea, and what kind of price would be reasonable for you.
FInally: a big congrats goes out to my sister Jackie who ran a 5K yesterday in 24 minutes! I'm proud of her, big-time! Way to go, sis!
