Two Tabata's On A Tuesday Track Attack
Greetings,
This morning's run was a great time to get in a workout, because temps later today are going to be hot, humid & muggy to contend with. So, it was worth working out at 5:40 in the morning, when all I had to deal with was cool temps, slight mugginess, and there was really no breeze at all.
This morning's workout was like this:
2 minute jog to the track
2 minute jog on the track
4 minutes of 20s hard, 10s coast x 8 times
4 minute recovery jog
4 minutes of 20s hard, 10s coast x 8 times
Walk home for recovery.
16 minutes of torture!
I was trying to keep track of how many laps I was getting on the Tabata portions of the workouts, (the 4 minutes of 20s hard, 10s easy) and I got about 2.5 laps in on each 4 minute segment. On some sections, I could gauge my hard efforts as being on target with my race paces, as I'd hit a 100m section at the start of a 20s period, so that gave me a sign as to how much on target I was at.
All in all, a great run to do at this time of year & at that time of day, when its becoming hot & muggy out very frequently in June. Hard to think that a little over 2 weeks ago, I was running in high temps of the mid 60's and wearing a hoodie & sweats.
For more info on why I like & use Tabata's a lot in my training, read this article:
