1MileNation.com reaches out to more than just runners...
Greetings,
This blog is mostly about running & high intensity interval training. That's the main purpose behind it all, but really, it reaches out to more than just an average runner out there. Many of my readers 'partake' in running, and primarily do other sports. In fact, through most of my training career, I trained a lot of multi-sport athletes, (not the triathlete kind) ones who played a fall sport, a winter sport, a spring sport, and even a summer sport. I have worked with a wide variety of athletes and have studied a myriad of ways to train for multiple sport disciplines.
(I have a lot of former athletes who follow my blog through Facebook & Twitter updates...search for Rick Karboviak on Facebook, and for 'asaptrainer' on Twitter and add me!)
Some athletes use high intensity interval training as a general-to-specific conditioning tool for their energy system demands for their sport. So, this site is ideal for a multi-sport athlete who doesn't have a lot of time to train for 2-3 sports with differing programs: they can get some combined training efforts with HIIT style workouts that tackles a lot of energy systems demands all at once in a brief, concise format.
So, for most of these athletes, as well as their coaches and parents, who are all looking for key advice on training for specific sports, the only sports I can really turn to for specific stuff is running, and perhaps basketball. I have coached the sport of running on & off since 2001. Basketball was not only something I played in high school, but also sat on the sidelines as a student athletic trainer in both HS & college. By studying and observing the sport from an injury prevention and injury awareness stance, I learned more than just how to jump higher and shoot a ball better. So, I might have some specific details to give on that sport, such as drills I've done with my Rocket Feet Trainer inventions, which I sell as a how-to-make guide package at http://rocketspeedtraining.com.
I've had many basketball athletes train with the Rocket Feet Trainer inventions, making them at home and doing them on the driveway, in the basement, or in the backyard.
However, when it comes to all the other sports out there, I really don't have the expertise or the large amount of time to come up with a specific training resource for every major sport out there (football, baseball, hockey, etc).
So, this is where I turn to other experts and professionals in the field: there are specialists out there who know more about these sports than I do.
That is why I just created a special ASAPWorkouts.com "Marketplace" for those types of programs, and even some membership sites, that offer more specific training advice for specific sports.
Not everything on the site is for a specific sport, either, as there are other programs that cover basic topics such as Speed Training alone, like the one package at SpeedExperts.com. Another one is for the new kettlebell program, KettleWorx. So, if for instance you wanted a new perspective on kettlebell training, KettleWorx may be something to look into for your needs.
This new Marketplace is found at:

Specifically for runners, you should check out the Running Audio program. It's a simple MP3 download product to put on your MP3 player as you run...pretty cool concept, and I am going to check out the free MP3 download they offer to you when you register for their free MP3 file!
Check out each program, to find the right program that will fit your needs!
I will run tomorrow morning and will give you an update on how the workout goes...you'll have to wait until tomorrow to see what the workout will be!
Run Strong, Run Fast...
Run So As To Win!
