A Quick Monday Blast of More Tabata's

Greetings,

Monday's workout on the track was another pretty simple Tabata-style workout.

Jog to track, est. 2 minutes
Jog one lap, est. 2 minutes

Tabata Sprint/Jog's, 15s sprint, 15s coast x 8 times

Jog 2 minutes
Tabata Sprint/Jog's, 15s sprint, 15s coast x 4 times

Jog 2 minutes
Tabata Sprint/Jog's, 15s sprint, 15s coast x 4 times

I almost did it this way: 4 minutes easy, 4 minutes Tabata with 15/15 intervals, then another 4 minutes easy, 4 minutes Tabata once again.

However, I felt a shorter rest after the main Tabata cycle would allow me to get used to going hard when I don't quite feel up to it, that's why I went with 2, 2x2 cycles at the end.  Same times when its all added up, but certainly a different feel to it, because the recoveries are shorter, & the work periods are shorter to go through, too.

I did get registered for the ND Prairie Rose State Games coming up in July, officially registered online for the 1600, 800, and 400m races.  My main test will be the 1600, since its the first race of the day, with the 400 in the middle of the meet and the 800 towards the end.  The cost was the same whether you did 1 race or up to 3 events, so I might as well see what I can do in all 3, right? This type of meet will also give me an indication on how well I can recover between extreme bouts that these 3 events will provide.
